“Fear Not!” by Patra Mueller, Family Life Minister
“But the Angel said to them, “Fear not! I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all people. Today in the City of David, A Savior has been born to you; He is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:11
These simple words written over 2,000 years ago are often glossed over during the Christmas season, but they have such a profound message: “Fear Not- Jesus will bring you joy!” Regardless of what is happening in your life right now or in the world around you, Jesus was born to conquer our fears and bring us joy! Stop for a moment and take this profound message in. The God of the Universe was born for YOU!
We will be celebrating this simple, yet profound message throughout the month of December.
I invite you to join for the following:
- Sunday, December 4th at 3:00 PM for “An Advent Experience” filled with carols, special music, stories and scripture by candlelight. Holiday refreshments will follow.
- December 11 at 10:30 AM – Sunday School Christmas drama “Sing a Song of Christmas”. This will be a special opportunity to experience “Christmas joy” watching the children recite the words from the first Christmas story, to share the history of famous Christmas hymns, as well as to sing those favorite Christmas hymns yourself.
- Our Christmas Eve services are at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM (Contemporary Family Services) and 11:00 PM (Candlelight Communion Service) and Christmas Day, 10:30 AM (Traditional Service). I look forward to celebrating “Christmas Joy” with you!

Chapel Offerings
Our December Chapel Offerings will support Living Water International whose mission is to bring clean water and life to people around the world. During the month of December, Pastor Peter has challenged us to “Buy Less, so we can Give more”. As a result, Hope Church has built three different fresh water wells in Nicaragua and India and brought life to these small villages. As a family, consider taking the challenge to buy a few less gifts this Christmas so that families on the other side of the globe can have clean water. Click here https://vimeo.com/94040591 for a short video explaining more. Thank you.
Benefit Mobile App – Fundraise while you shop!
PTH has partnered with Benefit as a fundraising solution. It is free to members and free to Hope Lutheran. Benefit is a free iPhone or Android phone app that can be used to pay for your everyday purchases such as groceries, clothes, home goods, and more. You can pay on site at the store or online. A portion of your purchase goes directly back to the PTH. Retailers include Lowe’s, Amazon, Target, Starbucks, and many more! For instance, buy $200 worth of presents on Amazon.com and $6 goes back to PTH, combine that with AmazonSmile for an additional $1. Download the app and add Hope Lutheran School as your beneficiary to start giving. Find more information in the app or at www.benefit-mobile.com. Feel free to tell family and friends. The more people who participate, the more funds we will raise!
Scrip Orders for Christmas
Scrip order forms are available on our website here or from the school office. The last date to get your order in for Christmas scrip purchases is Monday, December 12! After that date we will only have what is available daily in the box. Now is a great time to order for your teachers, family and kids. We also have “Scrip Gift Certificates” that can be turned in to purchase scrip if you don’t know what that special person wants! Thanks for your continued support!
