Words of Hope for November 26, 2013
Thanksgiving Joy by KristenOkabayashi
Many of you know this is my 4th year as principal of HopeLutheranSchool. I have enjoyed serving as principal all four years, and yet I have to say that this is the year I have felt the most joy and thankfulness for my position. I am thankful for our amazing staff including our incredible new teachers, our fabulous students, and all of you as our families. I love our amazing office manager Mrs.Wallace, our creative and organized admissions counselor Mrs.Heit, and our new hot lunch program. I am grateful for new curriculum, great coaches, and the overall spirit of joy that surrounds our school as a whole. Have you felt that spirit yourself this year? Over and over again, I hear visitors reporting on the good “feeling” that fills up our school. All this is not to say that we are perfect, or that we don’t have things we can improve on and do better. However, we realize we have something special here at Hope and we are so thankful for all of YOU!
Here are a few more particular things I am thankful for, both large and small:
- Chapel band and Glee Club performing the song “Beautiful Things” at chapel last week – it was indeed a beautiful thing!
- One of our 4th graders, Hallie, noticing that I was holding one of her classmate’s forgotten lunch box out front, offered to run it up to class for me
- Families donating over 3,400 items to our annual food drive for families in need
- One of our 8th grade students, Alexander, stopping to help a younger student who had spilled their lunch on the stairs
- Our kindergarten assistant Ms.Lisko gladly offering to cover for a teacher who was not feeling well
As we enter in to our Thanksgiving holiday, for all our families, I pray for bountiful time spent together playing games, eating, and talking about what you are thankful for.
Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Hope!
Psalm 107:1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

Lil Saints Basketball Academy by BrettKapels
All 3rd -6th grade students, it’s not too late to attend Lil’ Saints Basketball Program this winter. During the time together we will strive not only to improve your basketball fundamentals and skills, but also build a relationship between you and your team mates, incorporate life skills and make sure you have a positive experience. Order forms can be turned into the school office with checks made payable to Seattle Lutheran Boosters. Contact Mr.Kapels with questions at bkapels@hopeseattle.org.
