Bell Choir Performs at West Seattle Senior Center

The West Seattle Senior center hosted a holiday luncheon for many of the local seniors, featuring the Hope and Seattle Lutheran Bell Choirs performing holiday favorites directed by music specialist, Thad Franklin. The bell choirs have a long-standing tradition of performing at the senior center, and this year was no exception. Some audience members noticed the various sizes of the bells, their different tones and were amazed at the ability of our students to read music and keep time. During a short break, one gentleman who was not able to speak well, wrote his appreciation for the choir on a note and passed it to Mr. Franklin. Had the students not needed to get back to class, they would have been able to honor a request for an encore. It was a special afternoon for many, and a festive way to begin the holiday season.

The music selections performed by Hope were:

Away In A Manger

Lamb Of God

Oh Come All Ye Faithful

Seattle Lutheran played “Amazing” which is an arrangement of a Kanye West tune created by Mr. Franklin.

If you missed this performance and want to see them live, the Hope Lutheran Bell choir will be performing December 15th at the 8 a.m. worship service at Hope Lutheran Church, as well as the Sounds of Music Concert  at Hope Lutheran Church December 18th at 7 p.m.

We have included some photos and video from  today’s concert. Enjoy.
