Lutheran Schools Week by Kristen Okabayashi
This week, we celebrate being a Lutheran School during Lutheran Schools Week! In Seattle, we are one of just three Lutheran Schools, which include Concordia Lutheran in North Seattle and of course Seattle Lutheran High School around the corner from Hope. However, as a Missouri Synod Lutheran School, we are part of the second largest group of schools in the nation! Missouri Synod schools include 2,300 preschools, 945 elementary and/or K-8 schools, and 130 high schools across the country, along with the corresponding 129,000 students and 8,000 teachers. The first Missouri Synod Lutheran School began 500 years ago, and our school was created by Hope Church in 1959. Our school is so blessed to be supported by Hope Church, both spiritually and practically.
This year, we are joining in the national Lutheran Schools Week theme of “Raising up Faithful Disciples”. Our students will be making daily visits to a Kenya Virtual Missions Trip, and our middle school students will visit World Vision headquarters on Wednesday. Also on Wednesday, we will join our fellow Seattle schools at Seattle Lutheran High School for chapel services. Thank you so much for your prayers and support as we minister to the next generation!
January 29 Chapel Change
As part of Lutheran Schools Week, our chapel tomorrow will be at Seattle Lutheran High School at 1:30 pm instead of the regular time in the sanctuary. Feel free to join us there!

This week on Friday, January 31st, students may wear Seahawk apparel or Seahawk colors of blue and green to show support for our Hawks. This is an optional spirit day and students not wearing Seahawk apparel or colors will need to come in school uniforms as usual, as it is not a free dress day. Go Seahawks!
