God’s Creation by Mary Norton, 3rd Grade Teacher
Each day in 3rd grade is started with God’s word and a devotion. This year I discovered a book called Weird and Wacky, Strange and Slimy. Each day features a creature from God’s creation. The writer gives hints about habitat, behavior, and physical attributes that enable that plant or animal to survive. The devotion ends with “God thought of everything when He created me.” We have learned about ordinary, amazing, weird, and wonderful plants and animals. Our creator has designed and constructed an intricate and astounding system of living things.
Our creator is an artist and each of us is a part of the creation. God has also given us the gifts of creative ability. I am privileged to witness the creative essence in our students. I witness the moment when a student reads for a part in a play. There is a moment in which the student “puts on the skin” of a character. I witness the moment a child sings with abandonment and joy. The music is clear and the notes ring. I witness the moment a budding author chooses the exact words and phrases to convey thought and emotion, and the moment a student draws, colors, and designs their own creation. A smile stretches across the face as they relish in the creative process.
These creative moments come from our Creator.

Alley Building Update
Many of you have sent in letters to the Department of Planning and Development regarding the proposed building right alongside our alley. If you have not sent in a letter yet, please do so, as we believe we can make a difference by letting them know our huge concerns with this project. You may write to Bruce Rips of DPD at bruce.rips@seattle.gov. It is project #3015444 at 4439 41st Ave SW. Our biggest concerns are the safety of our students and the impact of this project on our safety and learning. Seattle Lutheran High School and Holy Rosary School are also advocating against this project so we appreciate their support and your support!
