Easter Thoughts by Kristen Okabayashi
Like some of you, I did not grow up in an overtly Christian household. While my parents were not opposed to Christianity, we did not typically attend church or even pray together. However, I was fortunate to learn many biblical foundations such as the Lord’s Prayer and bible stories from one of my grandmas, who had a very strong personal faith. My sister, brother and I would visit her often in the summers, and I was always fascinated by the interesting stories I would learn in Sunday School at her church, especially stories about unlikely heroes who would step up when you would not expect it, such as David in his battle with Goliath or Daniel in the Lion’s Den.
Despite my lack of church attendance however, the one Sunday my family would often attend services was Easter Sunday. There is something so amazing about Easter services! With the onset of spring and the promise of new life for us as people, Easter is such an uplifting and incredible day to celebrate.
Please feel invited to join us this Easter at Hope Church on Sunday, March 27th. We offer a traditional service at 8:00 AM and two contemporary services at 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM. My family will be greeting at the 11:00 service and we would love to see you there. He is Risen!
