Athletic Department Update by Brett Kapels, Athletic Director, PE and Math Teacher
It seems every school year tends to go by faster than the last. This seems to be true once again this year. I can’t believe that LEST 2016 has come and gone already and we are done with 5th and 6th Grade basketball season!
Both 7th and 8th grade girls and boys basketball teams had success with more wins than losses this year, but for me the lessons learned were more valuable. You will find one of my favorite quotes on the wall in my classroom, “the measure of an individual is not always if they finish first, but in how they compete and conduct themselves personally.” Sports in general are a great teaching tool for youth as they prepare for adulthood.
Our 5th and 6th grade teams found the quick season to be very rewarding! The girls were able to win the Peace Tournament in Bremerton while the boys battled back for 2nd place! We are now on to Track season, and still in need for some more help if you are interested! It is a great way to be involved and even earn PIP hours.
These kids are so thankful for your support, and that support is greatly shown at our Annual Eagle Classic Golf Tournament. This event serves as our main fundraiser for our athletic programs each and every year. This year the event will be held on Saturday, June 4th. We hope to see you there!

Staffing Update
Extended School Care director and kindergarten assistant Barbara French has recently accepted a position next year working for Alaska Airlines. Barbara has worked here at Hope for the past three years serving in a variety of positions and has been such a blessing to our school! We will miss her very much and wish her the best as she changes direction in her life.
We have interviews coming up for our middle school position this week and are kicking off our search for the other positions as well. Prayers appreciated as we actively seek out the teachers God calls to serve at our wonderful school!
