Life Without Music by Thad Franklin, Music Director
I’d like you to take a few moments to imagine what life would be like without music. Imagine your favorite movie completely devoid of any sounds other than footsteps or talking. Imagine long road trips with nothing but the sound of wheels on pavement or your children arguing in the back seat. Imagine a wedding where the bride walks down the aisle to silence. Imagine a church service with only a sermon. Whether you realize it or not, music is one of the most important aspects of your life because it provides emotional context for literally everything you do.
To further illustrate this idea, feel free to watch this hilarious comedy video of the final throne room scene in Star Wars where the music has been removed: https://youtu.be/Tj-GZJhfBmI
Since music is such a huge part of our daily lives it has become easy for many of us to take this gift for granted. It can be easy to forget how much time, effort, passion, and sacrifice it takes for musicians to share music with you. My challenge to you is this: the next time you see musicians playing their hearts out in a restaurant, in a church, on a stage, or on the street, take a moment to think about the thousands of hours that have gone into practicing their instruments so you can connect or enjoy three minutes of your life. Furthermore, take time to support our young musicians here at Hope School. Please attend our Sounds of Spring Concert on May 25th at 7pm. Let them know how important music is to you and our community at Hope because without their music, life would be less meaningful.

Principal-for-the-day Happenings
We have two more principals-for-the-day coming up! This Friday, May 20, Ruby in Kindergarten will be Principal, and she has declared it to be “Beach Day” so please wear your favorite comfortable beach clothes, while still following free dress guidelines in the school handbook. It is also a free dress day so students not dressing up can choose free dress as well.
Next Thursday, May 26, Asher from 5th grade will be Principal, and he has asked students to wear clothing demonstrating what they want to do when they grow up. This is a regular dress day so students not dressing up should wear school uniforms.
