Summer Relaxation? by Kristen Okabayashi, Principal
As the end of the school year approached, I heard the question, “Are you looking forward to summer break?” from many parents (and students too). My answer is always yes, but not in the way you might imagine. Last week, our teachers were in all week long, as we wrapped up grading, report cards, and considered textbooks and materials for the coming year. We worked on sorting through classroom supplies, cleaned out filing cabinets, and got the floors ready for waxing. Once those projects are completed, you might be surprised at how much time we spend on summer conferences to improve our teaching skills, time spent planning the year ahead, and for me in particular, casting vision about the future for our school. So yes, it’s wonderful to have the break, but an educator is never really finished!
Thanks for spending the school year with us, and we look forward to another fantastic year! And in the meanwhile, enjoy your summer. Blessings to all of you!
