WOH For Tues. Jan. 2, 2018
Happy New Year! 2017 flew by for me, especially those last four months of the school year. We are excited to begin the New Year and look forward to many activities and events coming up such as Lutheran Schools Week later in January, LEST in February, the much anticipated talent show in March and time-traveling back to the 80s at The Hopecoming Auction April 21st.
As we start the New Year, there are some important dates to keep in mind for this month. January 9 at 6:30 pm is our Preschool Open House. This is a great opportunity to invite families to check out one of the great play-based preschool programs in West Seattle. Children are welcome to this informal get-to-know-you session so they can explore the classroom and parents can meet the teachers and ask questions. If any parents of current preschoolers want to volunteer to help answer questions and greet families, I would love the help.
January 15-26 will be open to current families to register for Fall 2018 enrollment. Hope will continue to use the online admissions module, K12Online, which has recently undergone an upgrade so stay tuned for information on some of these changes. Re-enrollment information will come home on January 16. Applications for new students will begin to be processed on January 29, 2018.
I’m constantly reminded, especially during the holidays, of the amazing generosity, kindness, and love that are shared in our school and church communities. As a parent I feel blessed that my kids benefit from being a part of an extended family whose staff care about their welfare and life journey as much as I do. And as a member of the staff, it is a privilege to work with Christ-centered teachers who continuously cheer for the success of each and every student even beyond graduation. I believe that all schools try their hardest to provide the best education, but there is something special about Hope. Your family is our family and your child’s success is our pride and joy. Thank you for continuing to be a part of the Hope family and blessings to you in 2018.

Level Up Village Global Inventors Class
We are really excited to try out a new program supplementing our middle school science program and partnering globally with another school. Join us on an adventure to transform the world as we know it! Students in this class will learn about the power of 3D printing, one of the most innovative technologies of our time and something that we use regularly at Hope, to engineer solutions to real-world issues. In this exciting course, students learn how to use Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to create and modify a series of designs. The final project is to work together with their global partners to create and 3D print a solar-powered light source, all while exchanging video messages about their projects and daily life in each of their countries. Thank you to a private supporter of the school who made this project possible!
Thank You!
Thank you so much to the families who sent in cards, treats, and other gifts to Mrs. Wallace, Mrs. Heit and Mrs. Okabayashi for Christmas. Very much appreciated and we thank you so much for your thoughtfulness.
