Hope Art by Janet Manuta
Artwork created by our students at Hope Lutheran will be showcased in the church commons beginning May 10 through the 18. We welcome our grandparents in that week for Grandparents Day but feel free to invite other friends and family as well to see a culmination of artworks that our students have created this year.
Students were introduced to new artists, such as Sandra Silberzweig (fish paintings by Kindergarten and 2nd graders), Paul Klee (castle collages by 1st graders), as well as familiar artists, such as Wassily Kandinsky (paper collages by 2nd graders), Georgia O’Keeffe (watercolor paintings by 5th graders), and Keith Haring (acrylic paintings by 5th graders). Our 3rd graders painted polar bears in the snow, while our 4th graders learned about primary and secondary colors in their sea creature paintings.
The Middle School Art Elective Class was treated to a presentation from a self-taught watercolor artist, John Connors, who visited their class for 2 sessions. He demonstrated his technique of painting “en plein air” in the style of the Impressionists and taught them how to create their own city scene.
All art work will be coming home in their portfolios at the end of the school year. It is my pleasure to guide our students as they explore their creativity!
Art Show change in location: The student art show originally scheduled to open at Hotwire Online Coffeehouse has been moved to Hope School and art will be shown in the church commons beginning May 10 through the 18.

LCEF Young Investors Club – Stamp Coordinator Needed
Would you enjoy helping kids learn the importance of saving while helping the ministry of Hope at the same time? The Y.I. Club Stamp Coordinator role might be a good fit for you! The Young Investors Club is a Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) sponsored program that helps teach young people the importance of saving and of giving back to God as He shares resources with us. The program is based on stamps that are purchased, collected in savings books and exchanged periodically for investment in an interest-bearing LCEF savings account (3.5% up to $1000). Hope began a soft launch of this program through our Sunday School last year and currently we have 32 Young Investors (with 8 more who are close to filling their books). We would like to expand this program to ALL children in our ministry and are looking for someone to be our Stamp Coordinator. We have lots of resources available and the program is very flexible and can be scoped to your level of availability and interest. We received a generous gift to seed the program to get as many children involved as possible which makes it even more exciting. Hope receives an annual rebate on our mortgage based on the number of total LCEF investors – last year it was close to $8,000 – Praise be to God! Please contact Julia Doerr, Parish Administrator, at 206-937-9330, for more info. You can also visit https://lcef.org/young-investors-club/.
