Humming around Hope by Sally Heit, Admissions Director
I enjoy walking around the school during the day and listening to the hum of the building. The school feels alive with activity and learning. Drones whiz above my head ruffling my hair; I hear an “Oh man!” shouted in response to defeat at the game Clue in the strategic board game elective. Students excitedly chat as they hurry to put the finishing touches on their art projects for the Art Walk, and morning recess has begun judging from the shouts of laughter and balls hitting the hoop. In the afternoons the hum is softer with the melodious cadence of the teachers reading aloud from the latest class book while the class quietly colors or finishes up work. As a student this used to be my favorite time of the day; I loved getting lost in the story and my teacher’s voice.
In eight days the hum will cease and our hallways will grow quiet; another year come and gone. Students will pack up their desks finding lost treasures, and wadded up stinky PE uniforms will be unearthed from lockers. Eighth graders will turn in their iPads for the last time while they delight in saying a final farewell to their uniform of the past nine years. My son Owen is a graduate this year; my second child to graduate from Hope School. He will be a freshman at West Seattle High school next fall, and I can hardly believe it. As hard as it is to believe that he is high school bound, I know that he is more than ready for the next chapter in his story, as are all of our graduates. With endless amounts of encouragement, guidance and love from their teachers, these students are confident in their abilities and strong in character. Patience and hard work have helped them achieve their personal and academic goals, and the time they have spent in chapel, in prayer and studying God’s word will help to ground them in their faith when they leave Hope’s hallways.
It is sad for me to see this class move on; I’ve known some of the students for 11 years and have enjoyed sharing the hallways with my son (although he might say otherwise). But, Hope School has done exactly what it was called to do almost 60 years ago: love them, teach them, show them God and set them free as they launch into high school.

Arts Walk Benefit Results
Thank you to everyone who joined us at the first Arts Walk Benefit! We had a lot of fun and met our goal of $15,000!! One hundred percent of the funds go directly to supporting our children through the various programs of the PTH. Thank you again for a successful event!
Sally Heit, Admissions Director
We have reached the end of the year, and what a fun year it has been! The students have accomplished so much from amazing art work to athletic, music and academic achievements. They have much to be proud of. As we wrap up the year, now would be a great time to reflect upon the year and write a testimonial about our school. These testimonials are helpful to prospective families when looking at our school as well as to our staff. It will only take a few moments and will help our school! Reviewing us on Facebook, GreatSchools.org and PrivateSchoolReview.com is also very beneficial to us and new families. Thank you so much for a great year and we’ll see you in the fall!
