Happy New Year by Lisa Meyer, Middle School Teacher
Change; this is an interesting word and one that we are all experiencing frequently these days. It can often bring anxiety and fear, but have you ever thought of the hope and joy it can also bring? I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. As I work with my students, I often find myself in awe of their ability to adapt to change; they are amazing examples of this. The students have learned how to grasp a whole new learning environment, adapt to being responsible for managing their time and school work, and probably the hardest change of all is not being with their classmates.
I have heard a lot about waiting for the change of 2021 and all the hope and joy it promises. When I really think about this, I am reminded that we don’t have to wait for a New Year in order to have hope and joy; we get to choose hope and joy in all circumstances. Romans 15:13 says, “ May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. “ This is what I am putting my trust in throughout all this change that is happening. May you feel the hope and joy that can only come from God and know that His love for you is never changing and always with you.
Happy New Year!
