Assistant Principal Update

Dear Hope Families,

Congratulations to Jennifer Neafcy who has been promoted to serve as Hope Lutheran School’s assistant principal for the upcoming 2021/22 school year. Mrs. Neafcy has taught for 26 years, teaching in every grade from preschool through grade 8, including the past six years as the kindergarten teacher and department head at Hope. In addition to her breadth of teaching, she holds a BA in Elementary Education and a MEd in Curriculum and Instruction. Prior to working at Hope, Mrs. Neafcy also served for three years as an assistant principal and one year as an interim principal.

Mrs. Neafcy’s primary responsibilities next year will include ongoing strengthening of academic and educational programs and school culture, promoting staff professional development and coaching, and identifying students in need of academic or behavioral support. She will continue to teach half-time as well, most likely in a different grade than kindergarten since younger students benefit from a consistent teacher. We will share more about that soon.

Current Hope Principal Kristen Okabayashi will oversee the preschool through 8th grade programs under the leadership of preschool director Christina Figgins and K-8 Assistant Principal Jennifer Neafcy, in addition to overseeing the administrative team at Seattle Lutheran High School.

Please join us in congratulating, welcoming, and praying for Mrs. Neafcy as she transitions to this new position!
