WOH For Tuesday, January 4, 2022
Welcome 2022! by Sally Heit, Admissions Director
Happy New Year! I hope that all of you were able to enjoy time with friends and family. I think we all needed a long break to slow down and take a breath. The snow was a lovely bonus to the holiday season, and I spent many hours in front of the fire watching it float down and enjoyed doing absolutely nothing.
Speaking for myself I’m not sad to see 2021 in my rearview mirror; it’s been a hard year. But, with all the struggles that Hope School has navigated through, our community remains strong. If we have learned one thing this past year it is that we are a resilient community that can get through tough times together. As we head into 2022, we look forward to some home basketball games and events coming up such as Lutheran Schools Week later in January, LEST in February, and the school auction in spring.
As we start back to school, there are some important dates to keep in mind for this month. January 11 at 6:00 pm is our Preschool Open House. This is a great opportunity to invite families to check out one of the great play-based preschool programs in West Seattle. To register for the event, please click here.
Current families will be able to re-enroll for the following year beginning January 18th through the 28th using Gradelink. The registration fee is $200 per student. Re-enrollment information will come home on January 18 in the yellow envelope. If you have a sibling you would like to enroll, please fill out an application for them through Gradelink. Applications for new students will begin to be processed after January 28, 2022.
I’m constantly reminded, especially during the holidays, of the amazing generosity, kindness, and love that are shared in our school and church communities. As a parent I feel blessed that my kids benefit from being a part of an extended family whose staff care about their welfare and journey through life as much as I do. And as a member of the staff, it is a privilege to work with Christ-centered teachers who continuously cheer for the success of each and every student even beyond graduation. There is something special about Hope. Your family is our family and your child’s success is our pride and joy. Thank you for continuing to be a part of the Hope family and blessings to you in 2022.
We Made It!
Thank you everyone for your generous support of the Eagle Excellence Fund! We achieved our goal and then some, raising $43,000! A huge thank you to our matching donors and all of our supporters. Your generosity will enable us to create a wonderful innovation lab with 3-D printers, robotic arms, drones and additional makerspace materials as well as upgrade our smartboards and purchase coding and design curriculum. Your gifts enable Hope to prepare our students for the future. Every gift makes a difference! Thank you for your generosity. If you haven’t given and would like to contribute, you may do so through this link.

Inclement Weather Communication
Thankfully the snowy weather occurred during Christmas break so we did not have to use any of our extra hours! As a reminder, for late arrivals or school closure decisions, we make our best effort to communicate changes by 6:30 AM. School closures or late arrivals will be communicated/posted via the follow methods:
- School email to all families
- Social media (Facebook and Instagram)
- Website
- West Seattle blog
- Main TV stations
Keeping students and staff safe is our number one priority. If you do not feel confident transporting your child to school, please wait until it is safe to do so with our blessing.
Hope School Volunteer(s) needed to supervise lunches for our teachers on Tuesdays. Please contact Jennifer Neafcy at jneafcy@hopeseattle.org if you have availability. Thank you!
