Youth Ministry on the Move by Jonathan Kopecky, Youth Director
“Hi Hope Fam!” as one of our current 7th graders says at chapel. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Jonathan Kopecky, the Director of Christian Education or, more informally, the youth pastor here at Hope. I oversee the middle school and high school youth and help with leading worship on Sunday mornings. But I also get to spend time in chapels, greeting students out front in the mornings, and supporting the school in any way I can.
Speaking of chapel, God has been moving! The students have raised an incredible amount of funds for some amazing organizations this year. And, at the end of this month, two students will be baptized during chapel. It has been so fulfilling worshiping Jesus with your students!
As we near the end of the year, I wanted to let you know about some missional opportunities we have for your current 5th through 8th graders (and high schoolers, if you have them). This summer we are doing an “Every Saturday Mission Trip.” We are partnering with local organizations within our community and serving in different capacities. Starting June 15th, at 7AM, we are partnering with Erik Bell and helping him clean up Alki. On Saturday, June 22nd we are partnering with WIN (Westside Interfaith Network) and serving at the Welcome Table. We are ending the month of June by partnering with the middle school teachers and administration to move furniture, desks and other school related items to the renovated north campus, on June 29th. Email jkopecky@hopeseattle.org if you would like to help out and need more information! I am also looking for other service opportunities in our West Seattle community. If you have any leads, please reach out!
Blessings, Jonathan.
