Spring and the Body of Christ by Mark Goodspeed; PE Teacher & Athletic Director
What does spring mean to me? As the sunshine glows and the light rains fall, there is a tremendous growth and renewal in the greenery around us. It is wonderful to think about warmth and summer and all the time that will be spent enjoying it!
Spring is also a great time for sports here at Hope, specifically track. Track is a team sport that celebrates an individual’s strengths and what they can bring to the team to make it successful. Like the fingers of our hand, by themselves they are not as strong as all 5 combined into one unit, so are the unique disciplines of track that bring glory to the team. Each discipline is its own unique event. You have long jump, where you leap into sand, shot put where you throw a metal ball as far as you can, sprinting where you run as fast as you can down the track, and distance races where you run an endurance race. Each discipline celebrates an individual’s gifts in order to bring glory to the team as a whole.
Like the body of Christ, each of our gifts that an ever-loving Father has given to us, can bring us individual recognition of an accomplishment, yet also recognize that we are nothing without the gifts that God has blessed us with. For it is with His help that we can run, jump, or throw as far or as fast as we are able to.
Spring is a time of renewal and growth and as we look forward to warmer sunnier days ahead, let us not forget the giftings that God has given to us. Let us use them for the entire body of Christ to give glory and praise to our Heavenly Father for his love and grace to us.

Book Fair – Thank you!
I’m sending my sincere gratitude for making our Book Fair an outstanding success!
The Scholastic Dollars earned are used by the teachers to purchase books, supplies, materials, and furniture in the Scholastic Catalog. Our library and all the classrooms have benefited greatly.
My reward for hosting a Book Fair is watching your kids discover new books. All that joy wouldn’t be possible without volunteers from our school community – you deserve my special thanks. A special shout out to the cashiers and volunteers!
Mary Norton, Book Fair Chairperson
Chapel Offerings
The chapel offering is collected during our weekly Wednesday chapels. Students will find offering envelopes in the weekly Yellow Envelopes.
For the months of May and June, chapel offerings will be donated to Asempa Global Academy located in Ghana. Asempa Global Academy is a Christian school started 10 years ago, and the founder has ties to the Kunkel family, here at Hope. Right now, the school has 97 students and is operating in the founder’s home. A school building is under construction, and offerings donated will help complete construction of the building.
