Lunch Update

We will begin our experiment with our students eating lunch in the fellowship next week. We are really pleased to offer our kids this chance to eat together in a larger environment! We anticipate that we will end up modifying our procedures as we go, so thanks in advance for your patience as we work through this together. Here are some important points:

  • Please pack ZERO nuts in lunches – we have several students this year with severe, life threatening nut allergies so we just are not able to have nuts at all during lunch. There are some classes where nuts are okay for morning snack but if you decide to pack an item with nuts, please remind your student to eat it at snack time only.
  • Students will not have access to microwaves in the fellowship hall, so at this time, please do not pack items that need heating. We understand this may be an inconvenience to some families but we do not currently have space to provide microwaves.

Thank you to those of you who have volunteered to help with lunch or recess duty; if you are interested in helping and have not signed up yet, please contact us in the school office as we still need help. PIP volunteer hours apply! You can also sign up for every other week if you are only available then.

After School Club News

Study hall will start up next Tuesday, September 18, and will be offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays this year, from 3:00-4:00 PM. Mrs. Kuhn (4th grade) will supervise Tuesdays, high school senior Mark Brumberg will supervise Wednesdays as part of his senior project, and Mrs. Newton (8th grade) will supervise Thursdays. Study hall is offered to students in grades 4-8 and is a great opportunity for students to finish up homework and get questions answered. In order to attend study hall, students must be able to manage their behavior and work quietly in a library-like setting.

Chess club will also begin that week on Monday, September 15, after school from 3-4. Mark Brumberg will lead chess club again this year, and it is open to all grades K-8. Lego club will meet Mondays this year, with K/1 student on the first and third Mondays of each month and grades 2-4 on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Lego club will begin Monday, September 15, led by Mrs. Brumberg in the kindergarten classroom. Math club will begin on Tuesday, October 7, from 3-3:45 on the first Tuesday of the month led by Ms. Tagge in the 2nd grade classroom.

Middle School Electives

Please remember that middle school elective forms are due TODAY, September 5. If a form is not received, that student will be placed in an elective as space is available.
