Welcome to Hope Lutheran School!

Welcome to Hope Lutheran School, one of the largest private Lutheran schools in the Pacific Northwest. When it was established in 1959, Hope Lutheran School opened its doors to 88 students in grades kindergarten through grade 5 and now serves over 180 students through 8th grade. For over sixty years Hope has been educating students for life-long learning in the West Seattle community, intentionally keeping our class sizes small in number so we can get to know your family and student. One unique quality that current families continually mention when talking about Hope Lutheran School is the emphasis we put on forming relationships with our students and parents. The teachers at Hope love to teach, and that love shows in our daily interactions with students.

Faith Focused

"When I came to hope, I was instantly welcomed. I've learned about God, made friends, and become a better student." Hope student

Student Centered

"The teachers really care about their students and want them to succeed. Though HOPE is a small school, it's big in many ways. I know my child is getting a good education, is being challenged academically and in a safe environment." Hope Parent

Inspiring Excellence

"One reason why I love Hope Lutheran School is the class size. I really feel like my son has the opportunity to get the help that he needs when he needs it...so that he can really shine." Hope parent

Let's Go! What a wonderful evening in community with Hope students and parents at the Academic Fair focusing on geography. Students could choose a country, state, or city to study and create a project. There was a wide variety of places our students covered. You could make a travel list ...from the places you saw tonight! From preschool to 8th grade, students showcased their creativity and knowledge of places in our world they feel connected to. #hopeseattle #academicfair #westseattle #privateschool #excellence

Field Trip Monday! Kindergarten headed to the West Seattle Library to get a library card and learn about how to check out books. And, they enjoyed a good story! Thank you West Seattle Library for hosting us! #hopeseattle #seattlepubliclibrary📚 #kindergarten #privateschool #readingisfun

Learning math isn't just about memorizing multiplication facts, solving story problems and reading graphs. Math also needs to be fun and relatable so we remember can apply it to our everyday life. The 6th grade math class learned about surface area and the volume of rectangular prism by ...creating cereal boxes. Who doesn't love cereal! Lucky Hoops sounds pretty good! #hopeseattle #handsonlearning #mathisfun #westseattle #privateschool #STEM

Rousing chapel today as we continue to celebrate Easter and Jesus's resurrection. Chapel isn't always serious. In fact, we have a lot fun being in community with each other. Today, the fourth and fifth grade Bible club recited Psalm 139 by heart! This is followed by a practice ...evacuation drill, which went great. #hopeseattle ##hopelutheranstrong #faithformation #westseattle

The tomb is empty. He is Risen! Special Easter displays created by the Orcas. Faith formation begins early with our littlest learners and builds through 8th grade. #hopeseattle #preschool #faithformation #handsonlearning
