Parents Engaged in Hope by Kristen Okabayashi
I am finishing a Masters in Educational Leadership at Seattle Pacific University; I’m currently enrolled in my very last class after three years, called “Engaging Communities”. While I am very ready to graduate and I look forward to living my life without my weekly night classes, I am enjoying this class in particular because the topic is right up my principal alley, so to speak. I highly value our parent community, along with our greater West Seattle community as well. Our school could not be the strong school it is without the active involvement and support of our parents around us! I’m thankful for our active and involved group of parents, and it’s something we don’t take for granted. From coaching a sport to stuffing Tuesday envelopes, from driving the school bus on a field trip to chaperoning our ultimate field trip to the East Coast in a couple weeks, our parents find ways to help our school be the best it can be.
On that note, please join us tonight for our annual Hope Academic Fair. With a fun theme of “This is Me”, student will share their projects from 7:00 to 7:30 PM, and then families can visit other classrooms from 7:30 to 8:00 PM. We look forward to seeing you all there!
In addition, come find out more about how you can become involved in our community and join us for the upcoming PTH (Parents and Teachers of Hope) meeting next Tuesday, May 8. As parent Jennifer Rice wrote about two weeks ago, you can find out about volunteer opportunities and hear more about what is happening at the school and with our parents group. Our PTH, led by Chairperson Heather Leaman, is an active and dynamic group of parents who love to make a difference!

Attending the Academic Fair is not required; however, it is strongly encouraged so that each student has an opportunity to shine. We look forward to seeing you!
