Technology for the Future by Kevin Jones, Technology Director
These are exciting times at Hope! As we celebrate our 60th anniversary, we strive not just to stay current, but to prepare for the next 60 years. In recent weeks, we have made many improvements in the technology we use at Hope. Several components of our school and church computer network have been upgraded significantly, and the work continues.
Our network firewall, which protects our students from computer viruses, security breaches, and inappropriate websites, has been replaced with an enterprise-level device. This new device allows us to monitor and fine-tune our network daily. Our campus-wide wireless network, used by our 100+ iPads in middle school and lower grades, now has greater coverage and increased bandwidth. This directly benefits our students as they access our web-based curriculum.
Our Computer Lab has been upgraded with newer desktop computers and a mobile charging cart of laptops, which are used on a daily basis by a mix of middle school elective students and lower grade students. We have increased the storage space on our network for staff and student files to meet our needs for years to come. We are also using cloud-based (off campus) storage as well.
In the coming weeks, our Internet connection will be upgraded to Gigabit speed, the fastest currently offered. This increased speed will allow us to take even further advantage of the ever-growing Internet-based curriculum we use with our students. All of these technology improvements, taken together, will serve us well as we continue our growth into our next 60 years.

What a weekend!
Thank you to our alumni, parents, students and friends of Hope for making this 60th Anniversary weekend amazing! There was such great energy and enthusiasm at both events. On Friday the turnout of Hope alumni and former and current staff was great. They enjoyed a self-guided tour of the classrooms and memorabilia that students and parents helped to set up. They also enjoyed two guest speakers, a bell choir reunion concert, and watched the debut of the new video depicting Hope School’s history.
Saturday’s auction was festive in gold and black decor, the outfits were dazzling, and the bidding frenzied! Thank you to all our guests, and especially the volunteers who tirelessly worked to make this evening a success. If you attended and have any questions about auction items you purchased, please email the PTH at pth@hopeseattle.org.
Watch the NEW 60th Anniversary Video here! A special shout out to Hope parent, Christina Hjort and our videographer, Simon Fox for producing this heart-warming piece together.
