Athletic Update by Brett Kapels, Athletic Director
It seems every school year tends to go by faster than the last. This seems to be true once again this year. I can’t believe that LEST 2015 has come and gone already and we are into 5th and 6th Grade basketball season. The teams are busy practicing away and wrapped up their Jamboree this past weekend. It is awesome to see the progress that happens from game 1 to the final game at the jamboree each year. They start with full basketball games next week!
Our 7th and 8th grade basketball teams had great success this past season. I don’t remember a time when both our girls and boys teams played in the title games for the HIT tournament. Our boys finished a tough battle in second place against Parkland Lutheran. Our girls came out as Champions after controlling the game on both ends of the floor! Head coach Mr. Allen says, “The girls had great heart and it was a blast to coach them this year. I will really miss the 8th graders.”
Both teams carried that momentum into LEST. The girls were able to finish in 3rd with a strong come-from-behind finish. The boys capped their season off with a 4th place finish. Onto 5th and 6th basketball we go and before you know it we will kick off Track and Field.
These kids are so thankful for your support, and that support is also demonstrated at our Annual Eagle Classic Golf Tournament. This event serves as our main fundraiser for our athletic programs each and every year. This year, our Golf tournament will be held on Saturday May 30th. We hope to see you there!
