All School Open House by Sally Heit
November 19th @ 6:30 PM
I have a folder in my desk drawer that is labeled my “Feel Good” folder. When I feel discouraged or frustrated with my job or even my personal life, I get out my folder and read the letters and emails from students and parents reminding me of how loving and wise our teachers are and how much our students excel in their academic and personal lives . One parent wrote, “The type of kid who would like Hope is one who is motivated to learn, willing to learn also about how to be kind and loving to others, to be a person who wants to make a difference in other’s lives by being a good influence in this world. All this is built on the foundation of the Lutheran faith that is the foundation for the school.” It took 36 years for our small school to open its doors in 1959, and it was the faith of the congregation that kept the idea of opening a Christian school in the forefront.
Thank goodness for that! Every day I witness from our students kindness, laughter, growth, creativity, strength, confidence, love, tenacity and so much more. I’m thankful for each and every one of them because without them and their gifts our school would be empty, both physically and spiritually. Fall is a busy time due to the three open houses we host, and I spend time praying for the students who will walk through our doors. I know that God will bring the families that are meant to be here, and many of them are referred to us by you, our current families. That is the biggest compliment we could receive. I encourage you to continue to refer new families and look forward to meeting them next Tuesday at our All School Open House.
