WOH For Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018

Posted November 13, 2018 by Shari Wallace & filed under School Newsletter.

First Impressions by Mark Goodspeed, PE Teacher and Co-Athletic Director

Hello! I’m the new PE teacher at Hope this year and thought I would share more about my first impressions of serving at Hope. It’s been a busy fall season with teaching PE and helping manage five different sports teams but it’s been a lot of fun.

First off I would say that the kids at Hope are awesome! I’m a new teacher with new procedures and rules about how PE should work, and overall it has been a pretty smooth transition with the kids listening and following the new instructions well. The students are fun and polite and say thank you and please and will not groan or complain if I ask them to help pick up equipment or other tasks in class. They have also enthusiastically embraced block unit structure when it comes to how we develop sports in PE. Right now, we are in the middle of our first round of physical fitness testing for this year for all 3rd -8th grade students. The kids have done awesome so far and I am excited to see how they will finish it out. Next up will be our basketball unit that will carry us into Winter Break.

Secondly, it has been exciting to see so much parent involvement in the school and the student’s lives here at Hope. I am so encouraged by seeing so much parental engagement and support, which is such a big part of this thriving Christian school environment.

Lastly, I feel so fortunate to be able to work with such caring and dedicated teachers that have a heart for these kids, which goes beyond teaching. Praying for families, for kids who are hurting, and a desire to see them grow in the ways of the Lord as we teach is just a great environment to be around and I feel so blessed to be able to work here at Hope.

I look forward to many years here at Hope teaching PE and helping the kids grow physically, spiritually, and emotionally. Thank you!

Thank you Hope families for supporting our school and PTH programs with the sale of the Chinook Book! We sold 88 books, 22 app cards, 31 online app subscriptions and received two generous donations! Our half of sales raised $3200.00! Amazing! Thank you.

West Seattle Junction Parking Request

Hope is fortunate to have the free 3-hour Junction Parking lot so close to our community for people to use. The Junction is asking for people to consider donating a few dollars at the new red boxes in the parking lot when you park to help Junction merchants continue to fund free community parking. #wspark #westseattlejunction.
