WOH for Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014

Curriculum Night by Kristen Okabayashi

Research show that there are many factors that contribute to a student’s success in school, including family support, teacher quality, student intelligence, student organization, and academic curriculum, among others. Creating a strong learning environment definitely takes a partnership between school and home!

In creating a strong learning environment, we believe one of the bricks of the foundation is laid with rigorous academic curricula. As such, we evaluate our curricula each year to ensure it meets the state learning standards as well as our students’ needs. This year, we implemented a new social studies/history curriculum to follow up on new science curriculum last year and math the year before that. We invite parents and guardians to learn more about our curricula, as well as take the opportunity to talk with teachers, next week at our Curriculum Night, on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 6:30 PM.

We will all begin in the sanctuary for a school-wide presentation and introduction of staff, followed by two classroom sessions. During the first session, families of middle school students will remain in the sanctuary for information from middle school teachers, while families of K-5 students can tour classrooms. During the second session, all families will visit classrooms. We look forward to seeing you all there!

Thank you also to ServiceMark for their hard work in getting the project done. We appreciate it!
