Hope School Updates by Kristen Okabayashi
Welcome back everyone! It was wonderful seeing all our students arrive at school yesterday morning; everyone looks rested and relaxed. Today’s newsletter article is all about updates:
Auction update – our March auction netted $38,513, which goes to our Parents and Teachers of Hope association (PTH), which directly supports our school in many ways. In addition, our Make-A-Difference campaign towards school restroom remodeling raised $9,375. If you missed the auction and would still like to donate towards our Make-A-Difference item, you can drop off a check at the school office and just write “Make-A-Difference” on the memo line. We would appreciate it! Thank you to everyone who attended or supported our auction; it was a wonderful community event! Thanks again to our auction chairs, Kelly Gorman and Jennifer Young, along with Sally Heit, for your hours and hours of time spent volunteering for this event.
Building Update – the proposed project across the alley has hit some challenges, especially with the alley not going all the way through, and there is now a public meeting scheduled for May 8 at 7:00 PM at the West Seattle Senior Center. If you are able to attend, we would love to see a good showing of Hope School parents in attendance. People will be able to talk and/or present written comments so we would appreciate your attendance very much! We are strongly opposed to this project and want to be sure that the city realizes that.
Door Access System Update – this project continues to be worked on but the vendor has had some unexpected delays in parts. It is frustrating to us but I wanted to let you know that it will be completed soon.
Oso Chapel Offerings – Our students have been very generous in chapel offerings this month, donating $532.97 so far, all of which will be donated to Oso families in need via United Way. Tomorrow’s chapel offering will be the last one included, so please encourage your children to donate if they would like to support these families both financially and also with prayer. Thank you!

12th Annual Eagle Golf Classic Tournament – May 31st

This is a perfect time to work on that swing for the Eagle Classic on May 31st! Registration is open online at www.hopeseattle.org (click the red ‘Donate’ button on the church home page), or pick up a form in the school or church office.
