The last time Hope basketball won the championship at LEST was 1987 under head coach, James Knittel, former coach and principal of Hope School. Today, Hope Eagles boys basketball won the LEST 2026 A Championship under the leadership and coaching of Head coach Scott Okabayashi and his team of ...coaches. We are so excited! Knittel's grandson and Hope Alumni, James carried on the coaching legacy along with five assistant coaches.

Hope Seattle Girls team took second in the championship under Head Coach and Hope alumni Jacob Menashe and assistant coach Jacqueline Philips. Four 8th grade girls played their last LEST, two of which whose families have participated in LEST spanning two generations! Two 8th grade boys played their last LEST.

The LEST tradition runs deep, and we are grateful for the relationships, spirited competition, and celebration of God's given gifts within students that have been displayed these last two days. Whether students participated in writing, art, robotics, swimming, drama, vocals, cubing, bowling, etc., they were seen, heard and celebrated today!

Thank you Tacoma Community College for hosting 18 schools! We had a blast and look forward to next year!

The Hope boys basketball team is undefeated in the regular season. Today they met their match and overcame! Two equally matched teams that shared the lead throughout the game, but by very few points. The game went into THREE overtimes! It could have gone either way, but Hope took the Win, 30-28. ...Well done Faith Lutheran. It was fun and stressful to watch! #hopeseattle #westseattle #basketball #lest2026 #middleschoolathletics

It stands for Lutheran Elementary Schools Tournament which began at Concordia University Portland over 60 years ago and has since moved to Tacoma Community College. Lutheran schools from all over the district from as far as British Colombia , California, ...Washington and Oregon. It's a fun few days of competition in academics, basketball and swimming that fosters new friendships and highlights the unique qualities of students.

Each school chooses an 8th grade Champion of Character that exemplifies respect, integrity, sportsmanship, and leadership. This year's Hope Champion of Character is Issabella! We are so proud of you!
