| Hope Lutheran School invites families to join us for our first Open House of the season on Sunday, November 8, from 2-4 p.m. at our main campus. This Open House will specifically highlight our Preschool through Grade 4 programs. Families will have the opportunity to explore classrooms, meet our educators, and learn more about Hope’s faith-based approach to education, strong academics using Washington state benchmarks, and our welcoming school community. Classrooms will be open for Preschool, Transitional Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and Grades 1-4. RSVP to join us! |
| Families interested in grades 5-8 are also welcome to learn more about Hope School, with a separate Open House highlighting our upper elementary and middle school programs planned for November 22nd at the North Campus. |

There aren't many middle schools that have a fully plumbed science lab to really immerse students in learning.
Bunsen burners are not commingly used in a middle school science curriculum. But Hope's science lab has all the tools to lead students through the experiments. Safety Read moreis always a priority and students undergo serious training in order to light the burners and study the materials used in the experiment.
Students tested three elements: water, sugar and baking soda. Guess which one was the most reactive?

Thankfulness. That was the subject of chapel that sixth grade students prepared four skits around to demonstrate how even in the roughest or happiest of times there is always something to be thankful for.
It's hard getting up in front of your class, let alone the entire student Read morebody. But sixth grade rocked it! By the time they graduate, Hope students are comfortable singing, acting, reading scripture, acolyting, and praying for others and themselves. At Hope we put our students front and center, encouraging them to lead their fellow classmates by example, and have fun doing it! We nurture the gifts that God sees in them that they might not even realize He put there.

What looks like kids 'only' playing with blocks, or painting pictures, or even cooking in the 'kitchen' is actually learning at its best. These activities are exactly what these young learners should be doing to learn in real-time how to share, take turns, and collaborate on Read morehow to make a pumpkin pie.
They are learning that when you mix colors you get an entirely different color! Their imaginations run wild when explaining how their Megatile tunnel will funnel animals from one area to another. They are tapping into their critical thinking skills when organizing tiles on the light board. And they have teachers right beside them cheering them on!

At Hope, middle school electives are meant to inspire, challenge, and encourage students to try something they have never done before. This year the woodshop elective was added to the over 18 electives Hope currently offers on rotation. Thanks to donations from the Eagle Excellence Fund, Read morestudents are working with their hands, measuring, cutting wood with saws and feeling the satisfaction of nailing two pieces of wood together.
Beginning with projects that teach how to use the tools and the techniques, students have built geo boards, sanding blocks, porcupines, and keepsake boxes, incorporating art to personalize each project.
Today, students finished projects and were given time to freely create their own designs using the skills they learned in class. Within structure, they could think 'outside the box' creatively.
