Welcome to Hope Lutheran School!

Welcome to Hope Lutheran School, one of the largest private Lutheran schools in the Pacific Northwest. When it was established in 1959, Hope Lutheran School opened its doors to 88 students in grades kindergarten through grade 5 and now serves over 180 students through 8th grade. For over sixty years Hope has been educating students for life-long learning in the West Seattle community, intentionally keeping our class sizes small in number so we can get to know your family and student. One unique quality that current families continually mention when talking about Hope Lutheran School is the emphasis we put on forming relationships with our students and parents. The teachers at Hope love to teach, and that love shows in our daily interactions with students.

Faith Focused

"When I came to hope, I was instantly welcomed. I've learned about God, made friends, and become a better student." Hope student

Student Centered

"The teachers really care about their students and want them to succeed. Though HOPE is a small school, it's big in many ways. I know my child is getting a good education, is being challenged academically and in a safe environment." Hope Parent

Inspiring Excellence

"One reason why I love Hope Lutheran School is the class size. I really feel like my son has the opportunity to get the help that he needs when he needs it...so that he can really shine." Hope parent

Kindergarten graduation! We are so proud of these young learners! #hopeseattle #kindergartengraduation #westseattle #movingup #privateschool

This week we’ll kick off a new message series called “God at the Movies”. The reality is that the good news of Jesus has permeated our culture in all kinds of ways people aren’t even aware of, and biblical themes are subtly embedded (often unknowingly) all over the place, including many of ...our favorite movies. The biggest movie of 2022, Top Gun: Maverick, is no exception as it is full of themes about anger and forgiveness, the provision of a father for the fatherless, and sacrifice for the sake of others. This Sunday’s message will take a look at some scenes from this movie and how it illustrates the truth of God’s Word for dads and for anyone who would put their faith in Jesus.
Worship service starts at 10 AM all summer!

As the end of the year comes to an end, fourth grade is finishing up their apartment project, which is an individual and group hands-on project. Students explore the science of connectivity and install lights in individual apartments. Then, they decorate their own apartment with materials found at... home, in the recycle bin, and purchased. This project allows students to be creative while learning how the lights go on! #hopeseattle #fourthgrade #westseattle #handsonlearning

Drama club ended their season Sunday with a production of "The Hysterical History of the Trojan War" by D.M. Bocaz-Larson and The Shakespeare Trail by F. Mark Sawyer. Students in grades 5-8 worked this spring under the direction of Drama teachers, Sandra Scragg and Mary Norton, on sword ...fighting, learning lines, and costume and set design. Actors were on top of their game as they remembered their cues and met their marks on stage. Graduating 8th graders were honored as well. #hopeseattle #schoolthespians #westseattle #middleschooldramaclub
