Hope Lutheran Church was established in 1918 by a group of 13 people and has grown over the years along with West Seattle’s population. In 1959, the church realized a long-standing dream and opened up Hope Lutheran School. When the school opened its doors, it enrolled 88 students in kindergarten through grade 5 and added a grade every year for the next three years to become a K-8 school.
A preschool program was added later, eventually expanding to serve half-day and full-day students in two classrooms in fall 2011. Currently, Hope Lutheran School enrolls over 200 students in preschool through grade 8 and continues its mission to provide rigorous academics in a nurturing Christian environment where every child is special.
Hope Lutheran School is committed to providing quality academic instruction, equipping students for lifelong learning, recognizing each child’s unique abilities, and nurturing each child in body, mind, and spirit in a community that shares and lives the Christian faith.
