Preschool – 3s & 4s
Preschool and TK (Transitional Kindergarten) at Hope Lutheran School is a fun, happy place full of opportunities to explore our world with hands-on learning in a safe nurturing Christ-centered environment. Our teachers plan activities to scaffold children’s learning to their next level as well as set up enriching, stimulating environments. We have a wonderful outdoor garden classroom and the students have the opportunity to attend one or two local field trips, such as the fire station or post office.
Our preschool program includes classes for children who turn 3 or 4 by August 31st. All classes have two teachers and are limited to 16 students. Our preschool content is primarily based on Washington State Early Learning Benchmarks and we use “The Creative Curriculum” which incorporates all current aspects of developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood education. A developmental continuum in all aspects of your child’s learning (social/emotional, physical, cognitive, language, spiritual) takes place over the two-year preschool program.

In our preschool 3s and 4s classes, we use a developmental checklist and portfolio system so we can share about each student’s progress at regular intervals. To nurture and build a child’s spiritual growth and character, we share our Christian faith through Bible stories, prayer and worship times, and we strive to model and teach the “Fruits of the Spirit:” Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control—Galatians 5:22
Transitional Kindergarten
Hope School is pleased to offer a transitional kindergarten (TK) program for students that may be either age 4 and just turning 5 or 5 by October 31st of the enrollment year. This class serves as a bridge to entering full elementary school. Students in this class will learn from the Creative curriculum including early literacy and math skills combined with play-based learning centers.
Attending TK allows for more time and opportunity to develop cognitive skills in an active learning environment. Students have extra time to build valuable executive function and adaptive skills as they launch into elementary school, and students completing TK may have the opportunity to enter kindergarten or first grade depending on their readiness.
Transitional kindergarten hours align with the elementary school with school starting at 8:30 AM and ending at 3:00 PM; before and after school care is also available beginning at 7:30 AM and ending at 5:30 PM for an additional fee.
