Preschool at Hope Lutheran School is a fun, happy place full of opportunities to explore our world with hands-on learning in a safe nurturing Christ-centered environment. Our teachers plan activities to scaffold children’s learning to their next level as well as set up enriching, stimulating environments. We have a wonderful outdoor garden classroom and the preschool students have the opportunity to attend field trips and enjoy Spanish and music specialists.
Our program includes classes for children who turn 3 by August 31st (Sea Star class) and who turn 4 by August 31st (Orca and Sea Turtle classes). All classes have two teachers and are limited to 16 students. Our preschool content is primarily based on Washington State Early Learning Benchmarks and “The Creative Curriculum” which incorporates all current aspects of developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood education. A developmental continuum in all aspects of your child’s learning (social/emotional, physical, cognitive, language, spiritual) takes place over the two-year preschool program.
In our preschool 3s and 4s classes, we use a developmental checklist and portfolio system so we can share about each student’s progress at regular intervals. To nurture and build a child’s spiritual growth and character, we share our Christian faith through Bible stories, prayer and worship times, and we strive to model and teach the “Fruits of the Spirit:” Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control—Galatians 5:22.
The Sea Star class meets in the morning from 8:15 a.m.–11:15 a.m., with a choice of two days, three days, or five days per week.
The Orca preschool Full day class is a great option for full-time working parents who need morning before and afternoon extended care. Drop your student off as early as 7 am and pick up by 6 pm. You may choose from a four or five day option (M-F). Their preschool time will be from 8:15 a.m.–11:15 a.m.
NEW IN 2018!
We have added a half day preschool 4 program called the Sea Turtles! This four or five day half time option meets M-F from 8:15 am to 11:15 am. They experience the same opportunities and activities that the Orca class does such as music, chapel, playing in the garden, etc. but is part time.
