“Children are naturally motivated to play. We use that motivation to help them learn.” – Tammy Shelver, Sea Turtles teacher

Preschool at Hope Lutheran School is a fun, happy place full of opportunities to explore our world with hands-on learning in a safe nurturing Christ-centered environment. Our teachers plan activities to scaffold children’s learning to their next level as well as set up enriching, stimulating environments. We have a wonderful outdoor garden classroom and the preschool students have the opportunity to attend field trips and enjoy Spanish and music specialists.

Our program includes classes for children who turn 3 or 4 by August 31st. All classes have two teachers and are limited to 16 students. Our preschool content is primarily based on Washington State Early Learning Benchmarks and “The Creative Curriculum” which incorporates all current aspects of developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood education. A developmental continuum in all aspects of your child’s learning (social/emotional, physical, cognitive, language, spiritual) takes place over the two-year preschool program.

In our preschool 3s and 4s classes, we use a developmental checklist and portfolio system so we can share about each student’s progress at regular intervals. To nurture and build a child’s spiritual growth and character, we share our Christian faith through Bible stories, prayer and worship times, and we strive to model and teach the “Fruits of the Spirit:” Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control—Galatians 5:22.

We have two preschool programs which have both part and full-time options:

Sea Stars Preschool – Full & Half Day (8:15 – 11:45 AM)

4 days (Mon-Thurs)

5 days (Mon-Fri)

Orca Preschool – Full & Half Day (7:30 AM to 5:30 PM)

4 days (Mon-Thurs)

5 days (Mon-Fri)

In the full time option you may drop your student off as early as 7:30 am and pick up by 5:30 pm.
