Bold and Courageous! by Kristen Okabayshi, Hope Principal
Hard work is underway at the new campus, with lockers being painted, closets being cleaned out, and bathrooms being renovated. Plans are underway for the middle school move to the north campus, and the preschool expansion at our main campus! It’s an exciting time for Hope Church and School.
The capital campaign to help pay for some of these changes is well underway, with some families already submitting commitment cards towards the goal of $1.25 million. We encourage every single person to participate in this 3 year pledge, which could include cash, stocks, gifts from grandparents, or any other methods of contributing. One of our students plans to hold a bake sale and donate the proceeds to the Hope North campaign! Another student plans to give their birthday money towards Hope North.
Together, we can give to ensure that more children in our community can experience the love of Jesus with a strong academic foundation. We invite you to turn in your commitment cards by November 3, 2023 to the school office or join us at church on Commitment Sunday, November 5th at 9:00 AM or 10:45 AM.
Thank you in advance for your support!

SCHOOL NEWS
MAP Results Coming Home Today
Hope K-8 students recently completed standardized testing, utilizing the assessment MAP® Growth™ test from NWEA® . Three times throughout the year, your child will take a MAP® Growth™ test from NWEA® on a computer or tablet. We give students MAP Growth tests to determine their instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year (and from year to year) in math, language and reading (K-2 students just complete math and reading).
MAP Growth tests are unique in that they adapt to your child’s level of learning. If your child answers a question correctly, the next question is more challenging. If they answer incorrectly, the next one is easier. This results in a detailed picture of what your child knows and is ready to learn—whether it is on, above, or below their grade level.
Based on the results, teachers know where to focus learning for a particular student. Results from the fall testing will be sent home today in the Tuesday envelopes. Please remember that this is just one test on one particular day. MAP testing is important, but it is just one piece of the puzzle of measuring progress of our students. Overall, our K-8 students performed very well.

Chapel Offerings for September and October: Each week, when we gather for chapel, we collect a chapel offering. A small yellow offering envelope will be going home in the Tuesday Yellow Envelope today. Our chapel offerings are used to support ministries and those in need, locally and globally. Through the years, we have supported a child through Compassion International, Living Water, and missionaries that spread the word of Christ in other parts of the world. In early August, a catastrophic fire swept through Lahaina in Maui, where lives were lost, and many people lost their homes and businesses. Our chapel offerings for September and October will be designated for Maui Wildfire Relief through Emmanuel Lutheran Church and School in Lahaina and the California-Nevada-Hawaii District of the LCMS (Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod). Both Emmanuel Lutheran Church and the CNH District are using offerings to help support the needs of those in their community.
COVID Rapid Tests Available – We have free rapid COVID tests available for pick-up at school if you are in need of some. Please call or email the office and we will be happy to prepare them for pick-up
