Fall Athletics Update by Tim Allen and Mark Goodspeed, Co-Athletic Directors
As we enter this Holiday season, we need to take a moment to look back at our fall sports and express our thanks and gratitude for the amazing coaches for Hope’s athletic teams. We had a lot of success as a school this fall, capped off with the cross country team bringing home the league championship! Soccer finished 3-1, volleyball took 4th place out of 12 teams in the Peace Bremerton Tournament, and flag football played hard and competed all season long.
Thank you to all of our fall sports coaches: Rodney Briggs, Lucy Kuhn, and Rich Albers for cross country, Jennifer Rice and Sally Heit for volleyball, Tjaden Pals for flag football, and Daren Rice for soccer. Without these awesome people we would not be able to have athletics programs, so THANK YOU for all you do as coaches and mentors for our student-athletes here at Hope.
As we look towards the winter sports season, thank you in advance to Jacob Menashe and Sara Cicero who are coaching girls basketball, and Wes Albrecht, Scott Okabayashi, Ryan Santo, and Elliott Figgins for coaching boys basketball in the upcoming season.
Finally, we want to invite all students 5th grade and older, along with parents, family members, friends, alumni, community members, and anyone who wants to support our Athletics Department to our athletic fundraiser, “Eagles Winter Hardwood Classic”, held in Seattle Lutheran High School’s gymnasium on Saturday, December 14th, from 9:30-11:30 AM. Please join us for a morning of bump competitions, 3 point competitions, potentially a students versus staff pick-up game, and more fun opportunities, to help raise funds so we can continue to offer all the amazing sports opportunities we have here at Hope.
