WOH For Tuesday, June 23, 2020
Happy summer from all of us at Hope! We pray for a time of relaxation and recharging time for all of you, and quality time as a family playing games, being outside, and doing whatever brings you joy and peace. This will be our last Tuesday Words of Hope for this school year.
Summer Office Hours
Normal school office hours during the summer will be Monday through Thursday 9-3. We will limit the number of people accessing the office, so please call to set up an appointment ahead of time at (206) 935-8500.
Yearbook Update
Due to processing delays from COVID-19 safety protocols, and anticipated shipping delays for the same reasons, our shipment is 1 to 3 weeks out. We are sorry for this inconvenience and will share more instructions for passing yearbooks out at a later date, once we know when they will be delivered.
Hope Summer Camp – June 22 to July 24, 2020
Our Hope Summer camp is underway! Enrollment in our summer camp is by online registration only. We have weeks that are full and for staffing and safety protocols we will not be able to accommodate drops ins. Registration is still open. You may access registration by clicking on the following link: https://campsself.active.com/hopelutheranschool

Report Card Information Reminder
As communicated a month ago, due to the change to online learning this trimester, Hope staff have come up with grading modifications that we think are appropriate for our particular students at Hope during this time, as follows:
Kindergarten through grade 5: Normally, student report cards at these grade levels reflect a score of 1-4 for each particular standard. For this trimester, instead teachers will show effort and participation scores for subjects learned, along with a narrative explaining more about what material was covered and how each student demonstrated knowledge. Some students may see a grade of “N” on the specialist page, reflecting a “not complete” grade based on a lack of work completed by that student in that particular subject.
Middle School Report cards in this age group will appear much like usual the report cards with letter grades, with two exceptions. Student who have not completed enough work or who have received low scores on assignments will see a “N’ grade on that subject, reflecting a “not complete” grade. In addition, because some students chose to opt out of some or all electives, students who remained in electives will see a grade listed on their report card, but it will not be included on their overall GPA (grade point average), so as not to penalize students who chose to remain enrolled.
Almost all schools are changing their report cards during this time period in some way or another as a result of this period of time, so know that future schools will also recognize a change in report card format.
Summer Packet / Fall Information
Our summer mailing will go out the beginning of August 2020. This will include a checklist of forms to complete through K-12 Online for the fall as well as our full school year calendar. Our school website will be updated by then as well.
