Celebrate the Light by Patra Mueller, Hope Church Family Life Minister
Lincoln Park has become a place of renewal for me during the pandemic. Being in God’s creation lightens my spirit and brings me great joy. On a recent walk, I spotted an eagle perched high in a tree, a seal bobbing in the water, and a family of ducks swimming towards the shore. But, what stood out to me the most was the sun’s reflection on the water. It was so bright and full of life. It reminded me of a verse that foretells the birth of Jesus:
“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. “ Isaiah 9:2
Jesus is the light that came into a dark world to bring renewal, strength and hope wherever He went. As I walked, I pondered all of the darkness in our world and I challenged myself to make a conscious choice to focus on the light, rather than the darkness. As we prepare for Christmas this year, I encourage you to find strength through the light of Baby Jesus and be renewed through the beauty that is all around you.
I also want to invite you to participate in our upcoming virtual worship services, accessible at the times listed below and anytime afterwards, on the church website at: http://hopeseattle.org/
December 13 – Sunday School Children’s Christmas program (available at 8:00 am)
December 24 – Christmas Eve Worship Service (available at 4:00 pm)
December 25- Christmas Day Worship Service (available at 8:00 am)

Let’s celebrate the LIGHT together!

Note From Admissions
As we dig into the Christmas season and many of our students are learning from home, it is important that our Hope community remain connected. If your student(s) are at home zooming into class, snap a picture and email it to Sally Heit at sheit@hopeseattle.org to share with the community of Hope. We want to see what fun projects they are working on. And, spirit days are coming so we want everyone to participate in the fun!
