Welcome Back To School!
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. — Colossians 2:6–7
Welcome back, Hope families! A new school year is always filled with excitement—new teachers, new classmates, new routines, and so many opportunities to learn and grow together.
Our theme this year is Rooted in Christ, based on Colossians 2:6–7. I am not a gardener by any means, but I love the image of strong roots, no doubt because my plants desperately need them. We may not be able to see the roots, but they provide the foundation a plant needs to grow, flourish, and weather the storms that come its way. In the same way, we want our students to be deeply rooted in Christ as they grow academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally.
Being rooted doesn’t mean standing still. Healthy roots allow a tree to grow. This year, we will challenge our students to try new things, persevere when learning is difficult, develop their God-given gifts, care for others, and grow in their faith. Through all of these experiences, we want them to know that their identity and foundation remain firmly rooted in Christ.
Colossians also reminds us to be “overflowing with thankfulness.” As we begin this school year, I am incredibly thankful for our students (including 60 new students!), our families, and our teachers and staff who make Hope such a special community. We are blessed to partner together in helping our students grow into the people God has created them to be.
We are excited for all that this new school year will bring. Welcome back, Hope! Here’s to a wonderful year together.
