National Lutheran Schools Week by Patra Mueller, Family Life Minister
This week we are celebrating National Lutheran Schools week. There are 880 Lutheran elementary schools across the country that are part of this national tradition! “Standing in Christ, Serving Others” is the national theme. We will be living out this theme all week at our school.
Sunday– Worship services were focused on Lutheran school and students lead the music & readings.
Monday- Thursday– Every day from 11:00-11:30 K-8 students will be going on an online mission trip to Latvia. They will be joining 300 other schools learning about the traditions of Latvia, as well as learning about specific Christian education programs where children are learning about the love of Jesus. All of our chapel offerings for the month of January will go to the work in Latvia.
Tuesday and Wednesday – Each student will be put together one hygiene bag to take home. Please join your child in looking for an opportunity to give his/her bag away to a homeless person who crosses your path.
Wednesday at 9:30- We will have a joint chapel hosted by Seattle Lutheran High school along with Concordia Lutheran at 9:30 in the SLHS gym. You are welcome to join us!
Thursday- Each class will deliver baked goods to our neighbors to let them know how much we appreciate them.
Thanks for your support in this special celebration!

Seattle Lutheran High School Open House, January 29, 2015, 7:00-8:30 pm.
Please join us for our Open House where you’ll meet students and teachers and learn how we integrate technology, including student iPads, into learning. SLHS offers students the tools and experiences they need for success in the 21st century. Our January Term (J-Term) provides in-depth experience in holistic education by adding variety to the normal curriculum.
Seattle Lutheran High School provides a personal and relevant education for our students. With opportunities to excel academically, grow spiritually and compete athletically, the individual student’s character is allowed to thrive. In a day and age where schools measure success by standardized measures on tests, which are important, we define success through Confidence, Hope, Integrity and Passion, the cornerstones of a Seattle Lutheran High School education where it’s personal.

This week on Friday, January 30th, students may wear Seahawk apparel or Seahawk colors of blue and green to show support for our Hawks. This is an optional spirit day and students not wearing Seahawk apparel or colors will need to come in school uniforms as usual, as it is not a free dress day. Go Seahawks!
