Outdoor Education by Tim Allen, 6th Grade Homeroom Teacher
Phew! I’m happy to report that all the 6th graders from Hope officially returned from Outdoor Education safe and sound and with no broken bones! This is a big improvement from last year were we had a student break his foot playing a rowdy game of bump in the first 5 minutes of camp!!! Each student had a wonderful time and I know they would all go back in a heartbeat if it meant spending more time with their friends and in the outdoor educational setting.
The students experienced many great things, including but not limited to: archery, horseback riding, visiting a salmon hatchery, doing a great bible study, and eating copious amounts of amazing food. One of the greatest parts of camp is each evening when we gather around a campfire and worship for about 45 minutes with some fun songs and a powerful testimony from the Band Teacher from Concordia Tacoma. Each of our students was impacted differently, but I know they each had multiple takeaways and learned ways they could grow in their daily lives and walks with Christ.
I hope these students were able to take to heart all the fun experiences they had while at Outdoor Education and carry this with them for the rest of their lives. I know God uses this experience to enrich the lives of our students and I am so glad I get the opportunity to lead them through this fun time in their lives. I cannot wait for next year’s trip already!
