WOH for Tuesday – April 19, 2022

WOH For Tuesday, April 19, 2022

Spring and New Beginnings/Hope by Tim Allen, 6th Grade TeacherWOH pic for 4-19-2022 6

He is risen!  He is risen indeed, alleluia.

As we have just finished celebrating Easter and Christ’s resurrection, I am reminded of all the promises of spring and new beginnings, both in and out of the classroom.

You may have noticed that it has been an exceptionally cold start to spring for us here in Seattle.  Yes, we have had 1 day of 70+ degree weather a little over a week ago, but then during spring break our average temperature was the same exact average temperature as the first half of December!  I read on a weather blog the other day that our average temperatures during this recent stretch (41.7 degrees) were just as unlikely as the massive heat wave we had last June, but this was much less talked about because there weren’t record setting temperatures involved. I don’t know about you, but by April I’m ready for it to be consistently getting warmer, though I feel like this year we’ve been stuck in the same pattern for the past 4 months!  It’s hard to have hope when it feels like the weather is never going to change from high 40’s and clouds with some rain.

But as we celebrated Easter this past Sunday, we know that while Jesus died, he indeed rose again and gives us hope for the future.  I can have hope that the weather will get warmer, because it always does. I also can have hope that all the students at Hope will come back from Spring Break with a renewed energy and enthusiasm for learning… … …fingers crossed!

For my students especially, I can have hope that they come back to the classroom ready to contribute to the betterment of each individual in the classroom: socially, emotionally, educationally, and most importantly spiritually.  I am excited for the last two months of the school year and for all the learning, growing, and changing that will go on in each and every classroom here at Hope for the rest of this school year and beyond!”

SLHS Spring Musical April 29-30 and May 1, 2022  – Purchase Tickets Here!

This spring, Seattle Lutheran High School Drama is proud to present The World According to Snoopy.  Snoopy is the world’s most lovable dog, but people don’t feel the same about his owner, Charlie Brown.  In a series of comic strip-like scenes, we watch everyone’s favorite “Peanuts” characters go to school, sit in the pumpkin patch, ask for psychiatric advice, and have wild flights of fancy.  This funny, uplifting musical reminds us all of the power of friendship.  Don’t miss it! Dates are April 29, 30 and May 1; tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for seniors and non-SLHS students. Musical is appropriate for children in preschool. Run time of musical is 2 hours.
