Lost and Found by Kathryn Romaine, Art Specialist
In art class we are creating projects that incorporate found objects. The idea of repurposing an object has always been fascinating to me – how one can rethink an object that previously had a specific purpose, and transform it in a unique and imaginative way. I love watching the students look at a found object and have 20 different ideas of what it could become. Maybe this, maybe that, and then their eyes brighten, and they find just the right usage. Who knew plastic bottle caps could become so many things?
I am reminded that we are the same with God. The scriptures tell us that in Jesus Christ God takes enemies and makes them friends, God takes orphans and makes them children, God takes those who are lost and makes them residents of His kingdom. He takes us bit by bit and reshapes us for His purpose. Even our mistakes and failures can be turned inside out and transformed into something beautiful. Our lives are special, and we are constantly in a place of refinement to be more like Christ. So, the next time you take out the recycling bin just think of God’s grace and how it is transforming your life.

SERVICE PROJECT SUPPORT
My name is Dominic Caudle and I am an 8th grader here at Hope Lutheran School. I am doing a service project to raise funds for Music4Life, a non profit dedicated to getting musical instruments into the hands of kids in need at various public schools throughout the greater Seattle area. I have started a GoFundMe page and the West Seattle School of Rock will offer opportunities to donate at their concert at the Hard Rock Cafe on March 25 from 2:00-4:00.
I am passionate about this because I’ve always loved music, and a lot of that was due to the people who were kind enough to donate instruments to me. Since the musical community was so kind to me, I wanted to give back. I would love it if you consider donating. Any amount will be greatly appreciated.
