New Life; New Beginnings…Celebrate Easter!
by Patra Mueller, Family Life Minister
I love this time of year when the colorful buds are blossoming all around us, the birds wake us up early with their joyous chirping and even the woodpecker pecking on the chimney reminds me that spring is here! It is no coincidence that Easter is in the springtime. Easter is all about new life, hope and new beginnings.
The Easter traditions of gathering with family for a fancy brunch and an egg hunt are fun. But, the true meaning of Easter has so much depth. It is actually what the whole Christian faith is based on. And it occurred over two thousand years ago in Jerusalem when Jesus rose from the dead after suffering a criminal death as a sacrifice for the sin of all people. Through Christ’s death and resurrection, death has been defeated and the promise of eternal life is available to all who believe. This is the message of Easter that Christians have been celebrating for centuries and will celebrate again this year.
Everyone is invited to join us for our Holy Week Services:
- 4/6 Maundy Thursday when we remember the first Lord’s Supper
- 4/7 Good Friday when we remember Christ’s sacrifice for us on the cross
- 4/9 Easter Sunday as we celebrate the hope found in the resurrection of Jesus
Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life, anyone who believes in me will live even though they die.” John 11:25
