Discovering Our Place in this World
by Stacy Robertson, Fifth Grade Teacher
One of my favorite aspects of teaching has always been seeing my students find their voice and passion. You will likely see me at as many games and events as I can make it to. This year, teaching fifth grade has allowed me to see student’s areas of strengths across many subjects. I can imagine future athletes, singers, writers, scientists, artists, and mathematicians. I am so excited for these students to find their calling in life.
Many fifth grade students continue to excel at their sports/activities, including soccer, hockey, basketball, jiu jitsu etc… But, many of these students have also tried and explored new areas. During the talent show, they were comedians, singers, and ventriloquists. Some have tried cross country and track for the first time. One student was the only fifth grader on the cheerleading team. There are a handful that bravely sing in front of audiences during concerts and chapel. For some, it was the robotics team or math team for LEST. These moments bring tears of proudness to my eyes. I want to keep encouraging them and all Hope students to try new ventures and to be involved.
This week, our entire class will get to personally support one of our classmates as she performs in the musical “Newsies Jr” with the Hi-Liners! I feel blessed to support her as she pursues her dream and passion.
