Community Building within Hope By Tim Caudle, Middle School Teacher
One of the great joys of my week here at Hope is when my 7th Graders get to visit the Kindergarten classroom for reading buddies. They sit side-by-side and get to share wonderful stories together. It is so great to see my older students let their guard down a bit to smile and laugh and to form friendships with their buddies.
Students here at Hope have done this for years. My sixteen-year-old son still has a cross hanging on his bedroom wall that was given to him by his buddy ten years ago. These little moments matter. Together they experience the magic of reading, storytelling, and the importance of being good to each other.Someday these Kindergarteners will be the big kids and their buddies will most likely be in college. It all goes so fast but the lessons and memories last a lifetime.
