Celebrating Lutheran Schools
By Kristen Okabayashi, Principal
This week is our annual week where we celebrate Lutheran Schools across the country. Hope Lutheran Schools is part of a larger community of schools including over 1,600 preschools and early childhood centers, and more than 800 elementary schools. Together, these schools serve over 178,000 students.
In typical Lutheran schools style, we are turning outward into the community around us to honor this week. Some of these events include taking daily online mission trips to Australia, creating cards to send out to members of the church congregation, and building kits to hand out to people in need or who may be experiencing homelessness. Thank you also to our students who participated in our church services this past weekend.
Additionally, I would like to recognize three of our staff and teachers for their longest tenures serving in Lutheran schools: Shari Wallace at 26 years (long-time office manager and currently oversees tuition and billing), Jennifer Neafcy at 29 years (current Kindergarten teacher and head teacher), and Mary Norton at 30 years (long-time third grade teacher at Hope). We are so fortunate to have these talented people with their veteran years of experience working with us at Hope!
