Outdoor Education for 6th Grade!
by Stacy Robertson, 6th grade homeroom
As one of the middle school teachers at Hope, I recently had the opportunity and privilege to participate in the Outdoor Education trip with the 6th grade class. We traveled to Miracle Ranch near Port Orchard by ferry and got to witness multiple pods of Orca whales on the way. We experienced three wonderful days of adventures, education, and worship with five other Lutheran schools from the Puget Sound area.
The Hope students joined study groups with students from the other Lutheran schools to rotate through activities including archery, horseback riding, arts and crafts, a nature walk, a wildlife talk, a ropes course, boating, and Bible study. Students, also, enjoyed free time by choosing from many different activities, which includes: boating, gaga ball, volleyball and other games.
Each night we joined around a campfire to sing silly songs, praise God, pray, and worship outside under the stars. What an amazing way to enjoy God’s beautiful creation!
It was great to see Hope students learning new things, playing games, and making friends. This trip provided a great opportunity for students to get to know their own classmates better and to make new friends with students from other schools.
A big thank you to our four wonderful parent volunteers who served as chaperones on this trip!
