WOH, Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025 – Teaching Sports and Living Faith
by Ryan Schroeder, PE Teacher and Athletic Director
Hello Hope Community,
My name is Ryan Schroeder (pronounced Shrader) and I’m excited to introduce myself as the new PE teacher and Athletic Director here at Hope. Having previously served as a substitute teacher, I’ve always admired the strong sense of community that this school and church have built, and I feel truly blessed to now be part of it.
I was born in Arizona and raised in Washington, growing up in a Christian family that explored several denominations — Non-Denominational, Baptist, Catholic, and more. Ultimately, Lutheranism became the faith that resonated most with us. I attended Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Maltby, were my love and trust in God began and have continued to grow ever since.
Sports have always played a major role in my life — it’s probably easier to list the ones I haven’t tried! With my mom being a teacher, I developed a passion for helping kids learn and stay active, especially in a time when it’s all too easy to stay glued to the couch.
Outside of school, I enjoy cooking, camping, and playing games — hobbies that let me be creative, spend time outdoors, and unwind after a busy day. I’m excited to share my passions and energy with our students and to help them grow both in faith and fitness this year.
