Why We Do This

A good chunk of my 62 years on this beautiful Earth has been spent in service to schools and families. “Why” did I do that? I can explain.
Spiritually, I was raised as the son of a Baptist minister; living as an imperfect Christian, loving strongly and forgiving quickly, gives you a better life.
Professionally, I learned my way through different colleges and jobs. In my early years, I leaned toward the thinking of a variety of creators like Abraham Lincoln, Elvis Presley, Nelson Mandela, Yevgeny Yevtushenko, Stevie Wonder, Martin Luther King Jr, Billy Graham, The Charlie Daniel and Marshall Tucker Bands, Vincent van Gogh, Jonathan Green, Buckminster Fuller, Jean Piaget, B F Skinner, John Dewey and others.
As a result of that eclectic foundation, I try to give the children under my care a good learning experience. Sometimes the learning is from a book; sometimes it is not. When not, we measure the circumference of trees to determine their age on Pi Day. We build molecular structures. We measure the volume of the hallway in our school. We read with our first grade buddies.
