WOH For Tuesday, January 11, 2022

A Time for Rest by Jennifer Neafcy, Assistant Principal

Taking time to truly rest has always been something that I need to work on. I usually have an overly ambitious to-do list of tasks to complete each day, and I plan for how I am going to get “caught up” over the weekend. Rarely, does it work out like I had hoped. I get stuck in a pattern of continually working to find that I didn’t really get as much accomplished as I thought I would. The result is feeling even more exhausted going into a new day or a new week with new items making their way on my to-do list.

Generally, I look forward to vacations for a time to rest and recharge myself, but sometimes it can be hard to find true rest on a vacation. After all the trip planning and preparations before the trip, tending to the needs of my family during the trip, and then tackling all the unpacking and mound of laundry when coming home, I find that I need a vacation to recover from my vacation. I’m sure many of us have felt that way before.

Last week, I unexpectedly was forced to rest. Being sick and isolated in one room in my house was very frustrating for me. I had so much to do. I just didn’t have time to be sick. While I would not recommend getting sick as a way to find some rest, I realized that my body was letting me know that I needed some true rest. God has a way of speaking to us to slow down and to find both physical and spiritual rest in Him. Jesus says in Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Jesus is not speaking of physical rest, but of spiritual rest. When the troubles of this world burden us, we know that we have a Savior who invites us to lay our burdens at His feet. Jesus offers us true rest and peace in Him.

Preschool Open House, Tonight, January 11, 6:00 PM

Tonight’s event is still an in-person event as we want to give you an opportunity to personally see the classrooms and meet our preschool director. In an effort to keep everyone safe and limit our gathering time, we kindly ask that children not attend tonight if possible. Normally, we would encourage children to attend and realize that finding care is rather challenging, but due to the increase in Covid-19 cases, we want to limit the number of the people on our campus and therefore exposure. We require that those in attendance be vaccinated and wear a mask at all times and social distance. Looking forward to seeing you all tonight!
