Last Week Thoughts by Kristen Okabayashi
This school year we were thrilled to add 75 new students in preschool through 8th grade, which is pretty incredible for a school of our size. Many of the new K-8 students arrived from a school that unfortunately closed around this time last year. As the school year began, I wondered how difficult it might be to assimilate so many students at once from another school that of course was different from Hope. And yet throughout the year, these families had made the transition appear very easy, with very few bumps. We are blessed!
I was talking with one new parent this morning; her child and their family arrived at Hope last Fall after a long history at another school. She mentioned that from the first time they visited Hope, they felt very welcomed and “at home” here, and that feeling has continued throughout their first year. She said that in her opinion, it is because God is the heart of our school, and everything else flows from that. And it’s true that as teachers and staff, we do our best to pass on the love that God has for all of us onto our students and families. It was a great way to think about Hope.
Many blessings on your last week of school and thank you for being part of our Hope family this year!
