Welcome Fall by Sally Heit, Admissions Director
The first day of autumn was on Sunday and what a beautiful day it was! There could not have been a more perfect start to the season. My husband Eric teases me because usually about mid August my ultra sensitive nose is sniffing out fall weather and announces to anyone who will listen (our dogs, mostly), “It’s Fall!” The dogs don’t care much, but for me the coming of fall is the start of a new year, more so than January 1st.
Most likely it’s because of the school calendar; everyone has new teachers, new school supplies and uniforms. It’s the start of getting reacquainted with our students and being in community with each other for nine months. There is a lot that happens in those nine months; so much learning, growing, shaping, and of course, fun! We have a lot planned for this year, so I hope you are ready! Tonight our PTH hosts its first meeting of the year at 6:00 pm followed by Curriculum Night at 6:30 pm so I hope to see you all in attendance.
To all our families I welcome you to the new school year, and for those families that are new this year to our Hope community, we are glad you are here with us! Every year is exciting, but this year is slightly more exciting than normal because we have a newly renovated campus which is home to our middle school students. And, our kindergarten through grade 5 students are ALL on the second floor! The kindergarteners are already charging up the stairs to their classroom. And, we added a new transitional kindergarten class on the first floor.
With all these changes, one thing hasn’t changed. Hope prides itself on communicating well with students and parents through our Tuesday emails and yellow envelopes. I’d like to add one more opportunity to communicate with us which is to invite you to have coffee with me on Tuesday, October 1st from 8:15 to 9:00 am in the Commons. Ask me questions or shoot the breeze or a little of both. I would love to chat!
Hope is excited for the year ahead and we look forward to partnering with you!

For this spirited day, students may wear light face paint and/or washable hair spray if they choose (no full-face paint). Extra accessories in the team color are not necessary but are encouraged, such as colored necklaces, hairbands, bandanas, etc.
Students are mixed up into different teams with K-8 students together. Fall Olympic events include a 3 legged race, a slow bicycle race, a paper airplane toss, and many other events. One student per team has volunteered to participate in the slow bicycle race, so that person should come to school with a bike and helmet, which they can lock outside on the bike rack or inside the school lobby.
